    Dr. Jessica Chitwood-Brown

Assistant Professor of Horticulture Tomato Breeding

Dr. Jessica Chitwood-Brown's research focuses on developing improved tomato hybrids and parents adapted to Florida's subtropical conditions, relevant to the Florida fresh-market tomato industry.

Her program emphasizes the genetic characterization of important traits and the utilization of innovative tools and strategies to select for these during the breeding process. These efforts are supported through collaborations with the Florida tomato industry, the University of Florida, and other researchers in areas including pathology, entomology, genomics, phenomics, artificial intelligence, synthetic biology, and postharvest.

Check out Dr. Chitwood - Brown's Lab for more information on her current research efforts!
