Communication and Leadership Development

The Communication and Leadership Development specialization offers students the opportunity to customize their degree, allowing them to concentrate on a career area that both interests and prepares them for various opportunities. 

The Communication and Leadership Development specialization prepares students for entry into business and communication positions related to:

  • Journalism
  • Marketing
  • Digital Design
  • Human Resource Development
  • Corporate Training and Development
  • Political Interests
  • Agricultural Literacy

Coursework focuses on a core of leadership and communication courses, including:  

  • leadership development; 
  • digital media development and design; 
  • interpersonal skills; 
  • management and organization skills;
  • presentation development; 
  • intercultural communications,
  • public relations; 
  • campaign strategies; and
  • technical writing.

The Department of Agricultural Education and Communication is among the country’s best in developing leaders and communicators to meet society’s changes and challenges in agriculture and life sciences. Many students will also have the opportunity for a course concentration opportunity in agribusiness or a certificate in Teacher Education.

The opportunities are endless as the Plant City Campus location offers access and firsthand industry experience throughout west central Florida and beyond.
