Agricultural Education

The University of Florida—one of the country's most comprehensive public, land-grant research universities—is home to the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences (CALS).

By evolving with the changes of food, agricultural, human and natural resource sciences, CALS prepares its students to face the demands and challenges of the 21st century. Educational programs are judged by the success of graduates, and our students of yesterday are leaders of today. Our statewide educational program in Agricultural Education and Communication is designed so you, too, can join the ranks of tomorrow's educational, business, and industry leaders.

A major in Agricultural Education and Communication prepares students for exciting and challenging careers in areas such as:

• teaching; 
• business and industry; 
• sales;
• working with commodity and governmental agencies; 
• corporate training and development;
• and other dynamic areas of employment. 

The Agricultural Education specialization prepares students to become certified agriscience instructors and educational specialists or to become employed in the agricultural business and industry sector. 

Students who complete this program of study are automatically eligible for certification to teach Agriscience. This state and nationally certified degree also prepare students to advise FFA chapters, to gain a broad base of knowledge about agriculture and agribusiness management, and to deliver an educational program of instruction.

In addition to equipping students with agricultural skills, the coursework also emphasizes expertise across a broad spectrum of agriculture making our students highly marketable. Traditionally, 100% of Ag Ed graduates have been employed either as teachers or in the private, governmental, or agricultural business and industry sectors.
