As a post doctoral researcher in nematology lab at University of Florida - GCREC, Dr. Khanal has been conducting field trials both on-site and off-site (farmers' fields) to evaluate efficacy of currently available nematicides on vegetable crops. Crops he works on include, but not limited to, tomato, cantaloupe, cucumber, watermelon, and squash. Nematology lab and greenhouse research is focused on development of non-chemical management of nematodes of strawberry transplants using thermotherapy. Additionally, Dr. Khanal is developing high-throughput​ screening assay for root-knot nematode resistance on tomato breeding lines.
