A potential degree-seeking student cannot enter the UF Plant City program as a freshman but only as a transfer student.  You must obtain the following three items: an AA degree from any public Florida Community College or obtain 60 transferable credit hours from another accredited institution; a minimum 2.0 or 2.5 GPA (depending on the major) for the AA; completion of the required lower division pre-requisite courses at the community college:

Community colleges award several types of degrees: AA, AS, AAS, and certificates.  From this list UF only accepts the AA degree for transfer.  Further, a particular community college can offer several different “specialty” AA degrees.  As a potential applicant you are advised to simply pursue the Liberal Arts & Sciences AA which will most easily accommodate your required prerequisite courses as described below.  You do not need to pursue the Agriculture AA, the Education AA, or any other AA specialty but you may if desired.  However, if you do so you will spend more time at the college completing our prerequisites.  The other transfer method may occur if you are a student at an accredited school that is not a community college (e.g., USF, FSC).  In this case you must obtain 60 credits that comprise the general education courses along with the minimum GPA and our prerequisites.

For the minimum GPA you need a 2.0 for Environmental Horticulture and a 2.5 for Natural Resources Conservation, Geomatics, and Agricultural Education.   For each of our four majors you must complete between 9 and 11 lower-division prerequisite courses at the community college as part of your AA curriculum.  Further, the list is different for each major.  Click on the desired major below to see the list.  You should print off the list and take it with you when you visit your community college advisor so that these courses are worked into your curriculum.  You must complete ALL of these courses as part of your admissions requirements:
Agricultural Education
Environmental Horticulture
Geomatics
Natural Resource Conservation
When you begin your final semester at the community college you should then complete the online degree-seeking application for formal admission to our BS program.  The online application may be found at http://www.admissions.ufl.edu/start.html. Once you submit the application please notify GCREC Plant City so that your admissions file is coded for the GCREC Plant City.
