Dr. Gurpal S. Toor
Associate Professor, Environmental Soil Chemistry and Water Quality
Welcome to the web page of the Environmental Soil Chemistry and Water Quality Group in the Gulf Coast Research and Education Center, Soil and Water Science Department at the University of Florida/IFAS, Wimauma, Florida. The overall goals of the research conducted in my group are to:
- Investigate mechanisms controlling release and movement of nitrogen, phosphorus, and organic contaminants from urban landscape to streams, rivers, and estuaries.
- Understand the interplay of chemistry, hydrology, and ecology in regulating the fate and transport of nitrogen, phosphorus, and organic contaminants in urban watersheds.
- Develop cost-effective and innovative tools for stakeholders to manage nitrogen, phosphorus, and organic contaminants in the environment to prevent water quality impairment.
The current group members include 3 Ph.D. and 8 M.S. students who are working on projects related to environmental soil chemistry, water quality, and fate and transport of nutrients and organic contaminants in the environment.
