University of Florida

In recent years, Florida has currently experienced rapid population growth and urbanization.  As a result of this rapid growth, water quantity and quality issues related to urban land uses are on the rise.  The Landscape Soil and Nutrient Management program, led by Dr. Amy Shober, focuses on reducing the environmental impacts of residential and commercial landscape management.  As part of the UF/IFAS Center for Landscape Conservation and Ecology, the program seeks to develop best management practices for soil management and landscape maintenance for landscape professionals and homeowners.  In addition, the program seeks to identify and mitigate soil related landscape problems (e.g., compaction, salinity, etc.) and nutrient losses from residential and commercial landscapes.
