Gulf Coast Research and Education Center was outstanding in awards for this past
month!
At the Florida Agricultural Experiment Station awards ceremony April 18, Natalia
Peres received the "Richard
L. Jones New Faculty Research Award" which is given to non-tenured
faculty who have a distinguished record of research. Of course, no
awards ceremony would be complete without "Mom's" greatest award,
Mariana, who just happened to be there for the pictures.

Dean for Research, Mark McClellan, also gets his turn to hold Mariana!)

Of the more than 75 IFAS
Researchers awarded at the April 18th ceremony, GCREC was the highlight
of the evening with more than its share of awards represented for IFAS
Research Innovation Awards -- Gurpal Singh, Geoff Denny,
Amy Shober, Jay Scott, and Jeremy Edwards. Craig
Chandler won an award for his patent for the strawberry 'Carmine'.
The Dean specifically acknowledged the Center for receiving more
recognition than any department in IFAS.
Congratulations!
