Special GCREC Visitors Last Month...
| This past month we hosted two student tours, Kinder Care and the 4-H Swine Club. These student tours bring with them a lively exchange, interest and a multitude of questions from young minds that are opened to a new world of science in agriculture that we sometimes take for granted. After a presentation and "hands-on" tour, they are taken to the field where they get to pick their own tomatoes. A special thank you to Dr. Jim Price and Dr. Jim Mertely, who always generously give their time to instruct and answer questions and also to Christine Cooley for her presentations, preparation and coordination of activities that make these tours especially fun and educational for the kids. PERSONNEL NEWS...Just when we were in the midst of hiring technicians for our new faculty positions, a campus-wide hiring freeze went into effect the first of July. This hiring freeze will include all faculty and staff state funded positions. OPS, grant funded and student positions will not be effected. The Vice President's office will review all currently posted positions to consider any possible exceptions.
