Congratulations, Sarah!

Sarah Smith, graduate assistant for Dr. Jay Scott, won 2nd place in the student competition for her presentation at Florida State Hort Society meeting in June.  Her presentation was titled The Effect of Time After Harvest on Stem Scar Water Infiltration in Tomato.  Congratulations, Sarah!

Dr. Jack Rechcigl attended the 52nd Meeting of the Central America Food Crops and Livestock Society held in Nicaragua. A "Letter of Intent" was signed with the Minister of Agriculture and the Executive Director of the Nicaraguan Institute for Agricultural Research.  This "letter" seeks to establish cooperative research efforts.  While there, Jack had the opportunity to also meet the President of Nicaragua, Mr. Enrique Bolanos Geyer, and express his purpose there and the importance of finding common ground for research and extension activities between Florida and Central America.

He's back...

We welcome back Dr. Arie Markus from Beer-Sheva, Israel for the summer.  This is Arie's fourth year in cooperative research with David Schuster's Entomology program.
