Environmental
Horticultural at UF
The goal of
this research program is to improve current and evaluate new
landscape management techniques.
This includes evaluating current N fertilization
recommendations for landscapes in Florida and investigating how to
integrate irrigation and fertilization BMPs for ornamentals.
The program also studies plant response and performance in
landscapes with reduced inputs in an effort to identify cultural
practices and plant material that enhance the success and
acceptability of low input landscapes.
Several greenhouse and field scale research projects have
been initiated to help achieve the goals of the research
program. Several funding
proposals have been submitted to obtain the required resources for
program goals to be met. Research
activities are geared to directly benefit the extension program.
Project findings are published in top tier horticulture
journals, including HortScience, the Journal of Environmental
Horticulture and HortTechnology.
