Our first Florida Ag Expo held at the Center on December 8th and 9th was a great success, in spite of the drop in temperature and gusty winds.  Over 700 participants registered the first day and more than 60 vendor exhibits were under the tents that covered the parking lot.  Field tours provided large-scale demonstrations. Tractors and spray equipment were also featured along with booths where vendors could demonstrate the newest products and equipment. The trade show was designed to be informative and educational for vegetable growers as they toured the vendor exhibits and fields and heard a wide program of speakers on Farming in Today's Regulatory Environment, Production and Pest Management. The one and a half-day trade show would not have been possible without the 30 sponsors who supported this first-time Florida Ag Expo.  A special thanks also to the staff of GCREC who worked hard in preparation for the event and were on hand for assistance throughout the Expo.  The enthusiasm generated with this trade show has spawned plans for a continuing yearly Ag Expo incorporating the ornamental industry as well as vegetable. Our appreciation and thanks to all those who made this educational trade show a success.
