WELCOME... Martha Hincapie is also working as a scholar in Natalia Peres' Plant Pathology program.  Marta also comes to us from Costa Rica as a graduate from EARTH University in Limon, Costa Rica.
If this new hire looks familiar to you, it is because Marcia Barquero Quiros was here in November 2006, working for a short time with Steve MacKenzie in the Plant Pathology department to receive training in techniques required for Natalia Peres' T-Star grant.  She has returned now as a scholar after receiving her Masters degree from the University of Costa Rica in Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources.
Kenneth Sorensen, a PhD graduate from Kansas State, and resident of Raleigh, North Carolina joins us as a Visiting Adjunct Professor.  Ken will be working with David Schuster and Jim Price in conducting research to evaluate the efficacy of new insecticides for management of the melonworm and pickleworm on squash. He will also participate in defining the damage of Asian cockroaches to strawberries.  Ken has extensive background experience as an Extension Entomologist at North Carolina State University and has even participated in GCREC entomology programs in the past when he visited the Bradenton Center  in 1986 and again in 1994.  Although recently retired, he has not retired his knowledge and experience, but continues to share that expertise in collaborative research.  Pauline Bansept has joined Gary Vallad's Plant Pathology program as an OPS research assistant and trainee from France, sponsored by Global Outreach.  Pauline did her initial training here in the US with Syngenta Seeds, Inc. before joining Dr. Vallad's program until December 2008.  She received her Masters degree from ENESAD in Dijon France.
Our newest OPS research assistant/scout for David Schuster's entomology program is Lynne Bullerman.  Lynne is teaming up with another scout collecting data for graduate student, Shine Taylor's entomology research.  Lynne received her BA degree in Geology/Natural Science from USF.  She and her husband live in Lithia. Plant City Campus has had two new Adjunct Faculty Teachers this past semester.  John (Chris) Bender is teaching the Agricultural Mechanics course for the spring semester. Chris is a UF graduate and currently teaches at the Gibsonton middle school.

Donna Moeller, is a graduate of Florida A&M and has been teaching for the past 17 years at Plant City High School in Plant City.  She is teaching the spring semester Reading Secondary Level course at Plant City campus.
