Welcome New Employees!

Maria Leticia Gonzalez Ferreira (Leticia) comes to Bielinski Santos's Hort Science program from Paraguay, where she earned her MS as a Plant Science Engineer.  Leticia will be training with us until this fall. Sabrina Spurgeon is a new Biological Scientist for David Schuster's Entomology research program.  Sabrina is a recent newcomer Lakeland.  She earned her BS in Entomology and a MS in Forensic DNA/Serology from UF.  She is also experienced in training and showing hunter/jumper horses.

If these two guys look familiar, it's because they've been working in the landscape research plot area for some time now under the management of Sudeep Viapari from the Apopka Center.  The research program will be transferring to the supervision of Sydney Park Brown and Amy Shober, so they are now officially working for the Plant City campus.  Davey Crockett (left) supervises the work done in the research plots and is ably assisted by Scott LaPointe.  Davey has a BS in Landscape and Nursery Mgmt. from UF. He is a US Army retiree and plans to continue his studies in Environmental Hort.  Scott graduated from Bloomingdale High School in Valrico.  The two make a great team!

Also transferring to the Plant City campus is someone who has actually been working there since December 2004 under the supervision of Sudeep Viapari from the Apopka Center.  Greg Doyen is a Biological Scientist who will also be under the supervision of Sydney Park Brown. Greg graduated from high school in Plant City and received his BS from UF in Environmental Horticulture. Congratulations to Robert Graves who graduated this past December with his BS in Environmental Horticulture with a degree emphasis in horticulture operations. Robert is the third student to graduate from the Plant City program since they began offering courses in 2002. His education and training come in handy with his position of sales associate at Kerby’s Nursery & Landscaping located in Seffner, Florida. Robert has a heritage and love for horticulture which is greatly enhanced by his additional interests in environmentally-conscience gardening, landscape design, botanical gardens, and bonsai gardening. We are very proud to claim Robert as one of our Plant City Gators. (Martin Wortman)
