A TIMELY  NOTE...This newsletter is coming out a little late this month as we have had some down time with our Internet connection as well as a busy month with the new Employee Appraisal process.  I want to thank everyone for getting the appraisals turned in on time and the effort and time that went into this important part of an employee's work history.
GCREC Family Picnic!...This year's family picnic will be held at Fort DeSoto Park in St. Petersburg.  We have reserved 1/2 of Pavilion #6 for Saturday, April 29th at 11:00 AM - close.  PLEASE BE SURE TO SIGN UP ON THE LIST FOUND IN EITHER BREAK ROOM OR CALL PATTY AT 633-4113 FOR RESERVATIONS.  Please bring your lawn/beach chair, as our half the pavilion has only 4 tables (large enough for 8-10 people each).  There is lots of shade in this beautiful park on the beach.  We will have games (horseshoes, volley ball, etc.) available or just come and enjoy this award-winning park, camaraderie, and good food!  Bring your bike if you want to take advantage of the trails or fishing pole if you want to fish off the piers. (There's a bait shop located near the Fort Museum) We will be having BBQ with beans, slaw, dessert, and hot dogs for the kids.  Don't forget to sign up!

 Welcome to our new employees...
Coming on board for our Plant City Campus is Carolyn Hinson, who will be assisting Ashley in the office as well as assisting Cora here at Wimauma.  Carolyn is a Plant City resident and past graduate of Plant City High and HCC.  She brings with her many years of work and education experience in office and business management that will be a valuable tool in her work with the Center here and Plant City.

Assisting Dr. Zhanao Deng's research program is Virginia Campbell. Virginia and her husband live in Riverview.  Her experience the past five years in the Citrus Canker inspection program has brought with her an appreciation and interest in horticulture/agriculture.  She enthusiastically looks forward to learning more about GCREC research.

A temporary assistant in Dr. David Schuster's entomology program is Carol Campbell. Carol, a resident of Sun City Center, has worn many hats the past few years - from receptionist to power plant document control - heels to hard hat!  She is eager to find out what this 'entomology' is all about!

Not pictured, but new in Dr. Michael Andreu's program at Plant City is Matthew Croxton.  Matthew received his BS in Biology/Chemistry from Bryan College in TN.
