 WELCOME  NEW  FACULTY...
Dr. Bielinski Santos, has accepted the position of Assistant Professor for Horticulture, effective March 24, 2006.  Bielinski has been a well-known figure here at the Center since September 2002, when he accepted a position as PostDoc in Dr. Jim Gilreath's Weed Science program.  He received his M.S. as well as his Ph.D. in Horticultural Sciences with a minor in Weed Science, Soil/Agronomy from the University of Florida. In the past few years he has dedicated his professional expertise to conducting research in both vegetable and fruit crops and participated in more than 40 international research and extension conferences, workshops, and meetings in 20 countries. Bielinski has proven his expertise, motivation, and ability to conduct cooperative research and interact well with growers, extension and fellow scientists. Congratulations, Bielinski, on your promotion!

We are happy to welcome our newest faculty member, Dr. Amy Shober, Assistant Professor of Landscape Nutrient/Runoff Management.  She will be joining us in early June after her move from Delaware.  She received her B.S. and B.A. in chemistry from Virginia Tech, an M.S. in Soil Science from Penn State University, and her Ph.D. in Environmental Soil Management from the University of Delaware.  In 2005, Amy was awarded the J. Fielding Reed Potash and Phosphate Institute Fellowship and the Hazel Burgett Endowed PEO Scholar Award. Just this year she was named a finalist of the Presidential Management Fellowship.  Amy enjoys swimming, canoeing, running, and crocheting.  We look forward to welcoming our newest scientist in June.
